My name is Jacob Wall.
I am a Advertising and Broadcasting major at Edith Cowan University in Mount Lawley, Perth. I am currently in my first year of University, as I graduated from Peter Moyes Anglican Community School last year (2015).
I was born in Sheffield, England in 1998, however I moved to Australia in 2008 and grew up in the northern suburb of Mindarie.
I enjoy listening to music, skateboarding and playing video games in my spare time. Every second year I travel to Queenstown in New Zealand to snowboard.
I love photography and I feel like its the major creative aspect in my life. I incorporate it into everything as I am always taking pictures of things, and always have my camera handy.
In 5 years time I would love to see myself as a creative at an advertising agency, or being apart or owning my own radio station.
Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, says creativity “means being yourself, not just complying with the wishes of other people”. I really relate to this meaning as I always strive to be as unique as possible in everything I do.
Work Samples
#1 – Creative Drawings

One of my WACE subjects at school during Year 12 was Applied Information Technology or AIT. This was probably my favourite subject, and creating these drawings was a factor why. We had to create a moving screensaver, a wallpaper and a ringtone for a smart phone which were all related to 1 theme. My theme that I chose was music, and at the time my favourite music artist was Kendrick Lamar. We had to draw something on either Photoshop or Flash to be the wallpaper, and I ended up drawing a portrait of Lamar (first image), and I believe it turned out quite well for a free hand, or should I say free mouse ha ha… drawing. I actually really enjoyed the process and found the close attention to detail was very relaxing, and then throughout this year when I’ve gotten bored, in my free time I have drawn other people and cartoons on photoshop and put my own spin on them. In the second photo I’ve attempted to create a pop art like portrait by making the artist look my cartoon-looking.
#2 – Graduation Video
By being apart of the AIT unit during Year 12, the one class was tasked with creating a graduation video that would be presented at the graduation assembly on our last day of school. Oh how I don’t miss that pressure. Well as the class was made up of about 15 people all the jobs were split quite evenly. My job however was to basically make sure everyone was doing there stuff, make sure I had all the finalised parts onto one USB, and then put it together with any added music and transitions that were needed. I also recorded nearly almost of the physical footage that was shot in the video, which spans from quite impressive I believe, to pretty laughable as the sound was quite poor. However it took around ten weeks to complete this assignment as a whole, and the class was actually graded on the whole thing, in which I ended up receiving a 90% mark. I look back on it now a year later and it is actually quite funny and I believe a really awesome way of remembering my year group from 2015.
#3 – Coffee and Health Creative Report
When I first started Uni last semester I believed my most creative unit was Communication and Digital Technology. I really enjoyed it especially this assignment which was a creative report. In previous assignments we had to do research about a chosen topic, mine being Coffee and Health, and then finally create a report which wasn’t just your standard word document. We had to put a spin on it so it also showcased what our report was about. As you can see I made it like a blackboard that you would usually see in or outside coffee shops, with the text and images being show like they’ve been drawn in chalk.
I like the presentation of the final product and was pretty impressed with myself that it turned out just like I pictured it. I enjoy the small detail of the titles font being the same font that is used for the Nestle logo.
